SOLAR. See SOLAR ENERGY.

SOLAR ENERGY. Uses the heat and light energy directly from the Sun. Thermal solar plants capture the solar radiation and use it as a source of heat. Photovoltaic solar technology, on the other hand, is based upon obtaining electricity directly from solar light.

SOLAR PANEL. System for capturing solar radiation.

SUBCONTRACTING SUPERVISION. Supervision and control as established by the level of services and technical supervision to subsidiary companies, and defined by the subcontracting activities associated with them.

STIMULUS BILL. Packet of measures signed by the President of the United States, Barack Obama, to boost public investment in infrastructure and renewable energies. The bill, which came into force on 17 February 2009, was introduced with the aim of stimulating consumption and reactivating the economy of the country through tax cuts and the impulse of new social programmes which allow the generation or maintenance of at least five million jobs.

SUBSIDIARIES. Companies directly dependent upon a parent company to whom they remain attached through shareholding links.
