AENOR. Spanish standardization & certification body, an association dedicated to the development of standards and certificates of conformity in all industrial and service sectors.

AIR CONDITIONING. Process for treating the ambient air in occupied internal spaces, in order to control parameters such as air temperature, humidity and cleanliness.

ALTERNATOR. Electromagnetic generator of alternating current, also known as a synchronized generator.

ASSETS. Combination of tangible and intangible items on which a company’s future profits are based. Assets vary according to the nature of the company. FIXED ASSETS are tangibles or intangibles of a permanent nature, necessary for the normal activities of a company and which will not be sold or disinvested in the short term. CIRCULATING or CURRENT ASSETS are assets on the balance sheet of a company that are expected to be used up in less than a year and are generally made up of cash and cash equivalents, accounts receivable, inventories, etc. ASSET PORTFOLIO is the set of fixed or variable yield securities, the property of a legal or physical entity. The portfolio should be structured according to the risk profiles of investors and their preferences for various markets and sectors.

AZUD. System for diverting water through dams in channels and small rivers, used in hydro and mini-hydro stations.
